Abstract

It analyzes the integration between Information Science and innovation processes in Technological Innovation Centers (TICs), focusing on informational contributions to academic entrepreneurship and technology transfer in a university environment. It is theoretically based on contributions from Information Science, knowledge management, and studies on innovation systems, highlighting authors such as Le Coadic (2004), Lundvall (2012), and Nonaka and Takeuchi (1997). Methodologically, it is characterized as a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive case study, conducted at the Technological Innovation Center of the State University of Santa Catarina (Udesc), based on document analysis and semi-structured interviews with institutional representatives of the NIT. The results indicate that the work of a librarian at the center contributes to the identification of institutional scientific competencies, strategic management of scientific and technological information, mediation between researchers and external partners, and support for technological prospecting and academic entrepreneurship. It is concluded that information practices, such as knowledge organization, scientific production analysis, and information intelligence, strengthen university innovation processes and expand the institutional capacity to transform scientific knowledge into technological development and social impact.
